HOW COLD PLUNGE THERAPY WORKS

Cold plunge therapy involves immersing the body in cold water, as low as 39°F, for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. This controlled exposure triggers a series of natural physiological responses that promote recovery and enhance overall well-being. 

Upon immersion, the body undergoes vasoconstriction, where blood vessels narrow, reducing circulation to the extremities and redirecting blood to vital organs to preserve heat and protect essential functions. After the session, blood vessels dilate, allowing blood to return to the extremities, flushing out metabolic waste, delivering fresh oxygen, and accelerating recovery.
